Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association
General Information
The Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association is dedicated to providing opportunities to crafters/artisans, providing education about the cultural/heritage related to it, promotion of, and financial support for the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall. The position of President of the Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association is automatically held by the President of the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall Standing Advisory Board which is held by Otto Preske, a charter member of the Great Smoky Mountains Arts and Crafts Community in Gatlinburg Tennessee. It will have a stand alone website featuring a listing of all members, scheduled events and activities, a membership signup page, and a dedicated page for the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall. Qualifying crafter/artisan members will have their own dedicated webpage.

The Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association offers tiered membership levels to crafters/artisans with special membership levels available to the public and sponsors. The public, crafter/artisan, and sponsor membership levels offer a variety of benefits. It will also be closely involved with the annual Artisan and Crafter Exposition, which will take place in the International Cultural Center Exposition Center.

General Membership Information
The Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association is open to the public for membership. All memberships are valid for a full year from each signup date. All members can pay dues monthly or annually and sign up for a special quarterly e-newsletter.
It will have one-time and recurring events to promote Appalachian crafters/artists, the cultural/heritage related to it, and develop educational materials, hold classes and workshops.
Public Memberships
The Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association public memberships consist of three levels open the general public that will provide support for the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall, its programs and events. The second level of public membership offers perks including discount coupons valid for the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall crafts and art store, the bookstore and The Philosophers’ Cove Cafe. The top level also offers an access voucher that will provide free access for two adults and two children to all public events hosted by the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall including the annual Artisan and Crafter Exposition. It also includes special discounts on select workshops to be hosted by the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall and the Appalachian Crafter’s and Artisans’ Association (ACAA).

Crafter/Artisan (Professional) Memberships
The two lower professional membership levels gives members the ability to provide financial support for the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall and participate in promotional opportunities. The third level offers them the ability to have their crafts/art sold for them with no commission fees and participate in official events for free. The top three levels also provide access to one of the twenty-four retail crafter/artisan spaces for them to sell and display in person at no cost and perform live crafting/art inside the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall. All levels will be able to host workshops with reduced costs or for free.
The final detailed information for the Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association will be worked out by the President of the association, the Institute for Natural Philosophy Director of Operations and Director of Public Relations. The Institute for Natural Philosophy board will have final approval, retain ownership and operate it as a doing business as registration.

Professional Memberships
The Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association crafter/artisan professional memberships consists of six levels.
Supporter & Supporter Plus
The Supporter & Supporter Plus levels are open to any individuals, groups, businesses and/or organizations that are involved in physical production and/or, with a crafter/artisan community, and/or the history, education, or promotion of it.
Supporter

The Supporter level is for members that only wish to only provide financial support for the Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association. These supporters will be acknowledged publicly on the official Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall and the Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association websites.
Supporter Plus
$48 per year

The Supporter Plus level gives the members the ability to participate in printed promotional materials, special online listings for events, the informational display located in the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall, and at official public events for free.
Vendor, In-House Level 2, In-House Level 4 & In-House Level 6
These levels are open to all individuals, groups, businesses and/or organizations that are involved in physical production of crafts/art.

The Vendor level gives the members the same benefits as the Supporter Plus level & the additional ability to have their crafts/art sold in the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall craft and art store with no commission fees at all. This benefit is available to members that do not currently occupy a retail space in the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall. This level also provides the opportunity to participate in all Appalachian Live Crafter’s and Artisans’ Mall and Appalachian Crafters’ and Artisans’ Association official events for free including the annual Crafter and Artisan Exposition.
In-House Level 2, In-House Level 4 & In-House Level 6
These levels give the members the same benefits as the Supporter, Supporter Plus & the Vendor levels. Additionally they will have a dedicated webpage on the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall and the Appalachian Crafter’s and Artisans’ Association websites & they are given access to one of the twenty-four retail spaces in the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall for them to sell in person at no cost. While these members do not occupy a retail space in the mall they will have the ability to utilize the no commission option in the art and crafts store benefits of Vendor level. Time of retail space length per year is set to each level. These levels require at least 25% of annual dues paid before initially securing retail space and 25% more due before the second month. Retail space will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Every effort will be made to ensure each of the twenty-four retail spaces is not of a direct competing nature. All required retail space infrastructure including shelving, checkout area, and register will be included. Optionally, if needed, credit card processing equipment will be available along with processing via the Institute for Natural Philosophy account. The retail spaces are required to be open during the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall hours and operations of the individual retail spaces will be the responsibility of the members occupying the retail spaces.
