The solar power partnership proposal will be offered to the Great state of Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley Authority with the goal of having those two entities work out a partnership agreement with the International Cultural Center. The proposal will include one or both of them financing, owning, operating, and maintaining the solar power equipment and related infrastructure that would be located within the Heritage Legacy Plaza. The solar power production would be generated from canopy-style solar panels located on top of the parking lots.

These types of public-private partnerships are becoming more frequent in the United States as they mutually benefit the public energy providers, the public, and the property owner. The energy provider, TVA in this case, would gain the ability to have increased energy production without any cost for the required physical footprint. TVA has acknowledged the need to produce more electricity as power demands are projected to dramatically increase. More energy production helps to ensure a stable power grid and consistent rates which benefits the public. The International Cultural Center would benefit under our proposal by paying reduced electricity rates while at the same time being able to offer its patrons covered parking.

The above infographic outlines possible solar energy production levels based on 10.8 acres.
The 13 parking lots located within the Heritage Legacy Plaza actually total about 22 acres. This means the solar power production rates listed above could be doubled.
Announcement posts will be made when the solar power partnership proposal is officially submitted and as any future developments happen.
