Meet Jacqueline Small:
the Institute for Natural Philosophy
Director of Cultural Preservation.
The Institute for Natural Philosophy administrative role of Director of Cultural Preservation is filled by Jacqueline Small.

Jacqueline brings both the technical knowledge required and a deep passion for history to her role of Director of Cultural Preservation. The Institute for Natural Philosophy is both thrilled and privileged to have someone with her work ethics and dedication represent us in our cultural preservation efforts.
Jacqueline is involved in both of the museums and libraries as well as the Appalachian Live Crafters’ and Artisans’ Mall for the Knoxville Global Heritage Initiative project as Director of Cultural Preservation. She will be working with key individuals to ensure that all the required policies, procedures, governance, and core standards needed for the museums are included to create the finalized official “Institute for Natural Philosophy Master Museum Institutional Policy, Code of Ethics and Core Standards”. She will also be closely involved in providing guidance for both libraries and the Appalachian Live Crafter’s Mall regarding materials, programs, and policies related to cultural preservation.
Professionally, Jacqueline has owned multiple businesses, was a Palliative Care nurse for 12 years, and is also currently involved with art and artifacts for an auction house. Her background also includes experience in film, television, and photography. She is working towards a BA in Anthropology focused on Cultural Resource Management (CRM) leading her to a Masters in CRM.
Collaboration, open dialogue, and considering all sides are extremely important to her in regards to performing history research. She believes in eternal questioning, open discovery, and is open to discoveries made by independent researchers that are not school degreed.
Jacqueline joined the Institute for Natural Philosophy in the capacity as a podcaster, became a board member in short order and lastly became the Director of Cultural Preservation. Her commitment to these roles represents her dedication to amplify the Institute of Natural Philosophy’s core mission to research, educate, preserve, and present information in history, science, and the humanities.
She has personal interests in history, especially art history, as well as archaeology, anthropology, psychology, outdoor activities, and photography. She is an avid reader, always searching for more information and answers.
It should also be noted that Jacqueline is still performing her original position as the co-host of Universe Unveiled, an official podcast of the Institute for Natural Philosophy.
